6:00 pm
we hit 64 cleveland hopkins and that's why we have a few light showers here just west of mansfield and cedar point and cloud cover out there. we have an alert tonight for the risk of a few light showers before 1 a.m. and you might encounter raindrops here and there and wet roads and unseasonally warm tonight and many spots staying above 50 as unseasonally warm stretch of weather and we could be breaking record highs and looks like the best risk of rain comes friday and saturday. and that could give us quite a bit. 59 cleveland. 1 akron-canton and upper 50s canton and mansfield and sandusky and the forecast temperature keeps us around 50 at downtown and 51 overnight. we are talking 70s out there in the 7-day. 70s. more on that coming up. mark?
6:01 pm
>> mark: all right, jeff. thanks. now to campaign confusion on the ballot for the republican nominees. question. could your vote not actually count. dan deroos here to explain. dan? >> dan: mark, we are digging into this. it will cause confusion and probably make national news because ohio apparently can't get the ballot correct. let me show you what we are talking about. we are talking about republican voters for the primary. democrats, your ballot is fine. for whatever reason, take a look. this is a sample ballot. will you walk in. here is the first question. delegates at large to the national convention. you see the normal list. jeb bush, ben carson and some dropped out and they print these up months in advance. you vote once right there. wait a second. you go to the very next column for district delegates and district alternates, wait a second. why am i voting twice?
6:02 pm
why do i have to vote twice and what if i vote for one candidate candidate up here. we have been calling the secretary of state's office and elections. what's scary at this point the answer for us is we don't know why and trying to figure it out ourselves. the big question and what this may have to do with it is the fact republicans decided it would be ohio winner take all. all 66 delegates goes to whoever wins and maybe that's possible and didn't get into ohio law in time and that's why they have to have two separate questions. we want to know which vote will count. what happens if i vote in one and don't vote in the other. unanswered questions. it will be controversial yet again here in ohio. sara? >> sara: that's some important information. thank you, dan. the cleveland clinic introduced the first u.s. woman
6:03 pm
who said she prayed to god to get pregnant. dani carlson was there to share her story. >> reporter: wheeled in by her husband less than a month after surgery, first person who received a uterus transplant told the world why. >> i was 16 and was told i would never have children. from that moment on, i have prayed god would allow me the opportunity to experience pregnancy and here we are today at the beginning of that journey. >> reporter: the beginning of a journey that will last four years. the surgery itself took nine hours. lindsey is not from here but stay in cleveland at least a month recovering and it will be at least one full year before she can try to become pregnant and have a c- section and hopefully have a healthy baby. >> i think for the most part surgeons are a cautious bunch. we are not drinking any champagne yet but we are excited about the surgery. >> reporter: that's not the only surgery.
6:04 pm
the plan is to remove the uterus after the woman has one or two kids so she doesn't have to take anti-rejection medicine for the rest of her life. it is a surgery doctors at the clinic say isn't for every woman struggle. >> there are maybe people who judge the women for making the choices they do but i ask them to talk to one of these people and understand their story and understand what they go through before making judgment. >> reporter: a total of 10 women in all will participate in this clinical trial and the cleveland clinic are still screening potential candidates. dani carlson, cleveland 19. >> mark: thank you, dani. the wayne county sheriff's department is warning about a hoax working its way in our area. according to the facebook page, the hoax claims school will be closed due to a bomb threat by isis and wants you to click a link to see if your school is closing.
6:05 pm

6:06 pm
my daughter -- >> reporter: miku tells the operator his daughter fell down the steps. >> what's going on. >> she fell down the steps several weeks ago and my god she can't wake up. >> reporter: when investigators arrived at the scene of the home miku shared with his girlfriend they uncovered evidence that led them to believe hailey's death was no accident and he and his girlfriend were arrested. hailey's mom was devastated. she had full custody with her daughter. she wasn't up for an on-camera interview and told us by phone she still can't believe her daughter is gone or hailey's father is charged with her murder. >> is she breathing at all? >> no. she is stiff. oh, my god. >> reporter: the next court date for matthew miku and girlfriend is march 14th. in the meantime miku is held on $1 million bond. in starke county, denise zarrella, cleveland 19. >> mark: denise, thank you.
6:07 pm
coming up on next week's ballot in cuyahoga county, some voters decide on bow hunting deer or not. we sent reporter harry boomer to talk with residents about this growing problem of growing deer. >> keep them in the parks where they belong. >> joe is the growing number of people who want deer population and neighborhoods thinned. >> when i moved out here 28 years ago you didn't see a deer. >> reporter: what do you think about the possibility of deer with a cross bow. >> i am not truly a big fan of it for the simple fact i have three children and they are outside playing a lot. i am concerned if they were to get hurt if somebody were using a cross bow, god forbid that would happen it would be a horrible mistake. >> these six communities have placed an issue on the march 15th ballot allowing limited hunting of white-tailed deer by cross bow and long bow.
6:08 pm
